I Wear Lucy
Installation view, Hunter College / Times Square Gallery
I Wear Lucy is a multipart project: a physical installation, a video piece and a website. Products from a television sitcom are made available for purchase to consumers worldwide by dialing an 800 number or through the website. This work creates a microcosm of a phenomenon we experience in the world at large, that is, the blending of the boundaries between the fictional representation of life and its supporting mechanism of economic production and distribution. The choice of the Lucy show stems from a shift that this program introduced into the strategies of advertising.
